Career & Student Programs

Nurturing the next generation of talent at Montefiore Health System

Holding true to the core of Montefiore’s vision of teaching and enrichment, Montefiore’s Office of Career & Student Programs, focuses on enabling the development of tomorrow’s health professionals, today. Collaborating with top universities, colleges and specialty organizations in our region, we have put theory into practice through nursing and health-related internships. We encourage nursing students (future RNs, BSNs, MSNs and DNPs), clinical interns and externs to gain their crucial, in-field experience here at Montefiore’s Moses, Einstein, Children’s Hospital, and Wakefield campuses, within our inpatient units as well as in support functions that keep a hospital functioning efficiently.

Exposure for the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral nursing students to our highly talented nursing staff (RNs) continues to play a vital role in their career success. Students are paired with experienced Montefiore RNs, to immerse them into the nursing profession, gaining hands-on experience from and exposure to unique clinical cases and key projects and initiatives taking place throughout Montefiore Health System.

Doctoral Nursing Students

Graduate nursing students are mentored by Montefiore’s nursing body on a variety of projects, inclusive of evidence based quality improvement projects, research based projects and curriculum development projects to name a few. From concept, data gathering and analytics and activities that bring them closer to submitting (for example) an IRB eligible project, students gain hands-on experience working on projects that are strategically aligned to initiatives taking place throughout Montefiore Health System. We believe evidence based nursing is the cornerstone to optimal patient care and will allow us to ultimately benefit the patient population we serve.

Testimonial

“The Student and Career Development Division provides a patient and compassionate learning environment. Each student is given an opportunity to first explore and find their interest in healthcare. And when the student finds that interest, the team will help them to grow and nurture their professional goals. To me, that’s the key to finding that career you will love. And when you find a career you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Mark J. Sinnet PharmD, FASHP (Director, Clinical & Educational Pharmacy Services)
